The 2023 Trash Dash Was an Absolute Smash!

Despite needing to reschedule to Sunday due to a weather advisory, over 55 volunteers came to Middle Branch Park to clean and green! 80+ bags of trash were collected, along with 11+ tires, 9+ large bread crates, and a number of other bulk items. Thanks to the Trash Dash volunteers, nearly two tons of waste were removed from Middle Branch Park and kept out of the Patapsco River. This total was reported to Trash Free Maryland, an organization that tracks cleanups throughout the region and uses data to push for trash reduction policies.

Shout out to the Baltimore Community ToolBank for lending us the tools needed for the event! Our hands were gloved and trash was grabbed thanks to this incredible organization.

We also want to thank Berger Cookies, Ceremony Coffee and Checkerspot Brewing Company for their in kind donations, used as prizes for Trash Dash awards.

The golden Trash Dash trophies are highly coveted, and the winning teams were more than deserving! Congratulations to Strong Towns Baltimore on the Most Interesting Found Object (floppy bunny), inPLACE Design and Jon Merryman for Most Trash Collected, Hord Coplan Macht and the Hillbillies for Best Team Spirit, and Whitney Bailey Cox & Magnani and Unknown Studio for Most Funds Raised!
