My Lor Greenhouse is an operating greenhouse and storefront located in the Old Goucher neighborhood of Baltimore City. In addition to producing and selling plants and produce on site, the Greenhouse aims to support environmental education and urban sustainability by providing weekly classes and workshops.
As a new organization in the neighborhood, and one of many businesses housed in the Hooper House, My Lor Greenhouse seeks design assistance in coming up with a wayfinding plan for the Greenhouse. Neighborhood Design Center will work with the Greenhouse’s founder and consult with the building owner to design a wayfinding plan that includes the locations, materiality, and design of wayfinding signage.
The lack of signs creates a confusing journey for pedestrians as they first must enter through the building next to the greenhouse, the Hooper House, to be able to access the greenhouse in the courtyard.

Short term and long term interventions
Artistic and interactive
Throughout this process, we took into account the City’s zoning requirements and restrictions to know the type and amount of signage approved for this area. We also provided My Lor Greenhouse with resources on navigating these regulations once designs were finalized, plus fabrication and funding resources.
These designs reflect My Lor’s values — sustainability, clarity, and community connection — and we can’t wait to see them come to life!
