Rachel Wilson Memorial Park Groundbreaking

In 2017, the The African American Fire Fighters Historical Society (AAFFHS) brought us in to assist the Boyd Booth Community to create a landscape design for a memorial garden and community space in honor of Racheal Wilson, a fire fighter/EMT recruit who died in the line of duty.

Our initial conceptual design process helped the community and AAFHS to garner support for their vision, and secure funding and resources from the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts (BOPA) and the State of Maryland’s Project C.O.R.E.

The site is a series of city-owned vacant lots at 131-137 South Calverton Road, near the location of the training exercise at which Ms. Wilson was fatally injured.

The final product consisted of plans and 3D renderings for a vacant lot that is transformed into memorial, playspaces, mural, and playground. We’re so thrilled to see the project implemented and her legacy honored.
